What a great group!
This is the first book of the series I’ve read and now I’ll go back and read the first two – even though I probably won’t have to? These ladies are great and I love the setting of the series! I was introduced to a “new to me” author, and glad I added Jessie Newton to my library!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. It is excellently written. I could not put it down. I could almost smell the sea water and here the waves as I read. The author has a great sense of her characters and their emotions when they gather to support a woman that had an important role in their teen years. Each has a story to tell with lots of secrets. I look forward to reading more about the characters I’ve become attached to. I laughed and cried at times while they all attached to my heart.

Women strong…
I really enjoyed reading the lighthouse. The relationships between the characters, and how the characters themselves develop throughout the story is engaging and connects with the reader emotionally. It was fun to see all the characters come out of their shell and build deeper relationships with each other.

The Summer Sand Pact: Book 2
This is the second book in this series and I must say this writer has nailed the characters and the emotional issues that have affected their lives. In a way it is sad that so many of the characters are facing life changing events. But this story also reflects what is happening to many people and families. As the first book leads the reader to purchase the second book, this one has lead me to purchase the next book in this series.

Great!
A little of everything. Romance, heartbreak mystery and some happy moments. Love the series. Looking forward to reading the rest.

Read it in one day!
This was a wonderful heartfelt, emotional, life learning story! I really enjoyed it. Five girlfriends in high school and now in their late 40s come together over an issue that helps them each learn about each other as well as themselves. I wish I had five friends like that! And I never thought I’d say this but I am going to search for books 2 through five! Normally I don’t like series books because the first one ends in an annoying fashion. However, this one ended with all five of the girls figuring things out going back home to make the life they want for themselves. I’m anxious to hear how each one of them fares. Normally when I read the first book, it’s not usually as decisive as this one is. Which makes me not want to bother looking for the next in the series, but I will be looking for this one

Great story with strong adult friendships and relationships!
This is the first Jessie Newton book I’ve read and I’m addicted to her. Even though this book is not a first in the series, I cared for Eloise, Alice, Robin, A.J., Kelli and their “families” like they were my own. There were a few spots where I was questioning who someone was, probably from a previous book, but that character was not integral to this story. The storyline was dynamic with a lot of layers to each character and there was depth to the story and the characters. I will be reading her other books and I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about real characters and their struggles and achievements.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sisterhood
I really enjoyed this novel. Noone is perfect, we all have flaws and secrets. Without great friends we would never survive any of it. Doesn’t hurt to have some exceptional men added to the mix!!!! Well written with very noteworthy characters that are so relatable. I feel I’ve known every one of these women. A truly great read!!!

As a first time reader of this author, I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
After the death Joel Shields a man who has played a great influence in each of their lives, five childhood friends return home to Five Island Cove for his funeral and to support his wife Kristen, who was a childhood mentor to all of them. Robin Grover an island resident, sets out to get her four best friends Alice Keller, Eloise Hall, Kelli Thompson and AJ Proctor to honor a pact they made as teenagers. The main theme of this book is that no one’s life is necessarily what it seems to others. Finding out secrets with regard to Joel, and the impact they had on each of their lives makes all of the main characters reevaluate what their current life means. Although this book had a satisfactory ending, I am looking forward to the second book of what appears to be if I book series, to determine what’s next which with each of these characters.

5 friends come together to mourn a friends passing or so it seems
Each of the friends have a life connected to the death of their friends husband, with each chapter you find secrets that have caused heartache & wonder if all five will come together at their friends time of need, or if coming back to the cove will open up these wounds, this was a book that I had a hard time putting down I was so surprised at the deception & how it affected their lives, then & now, can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Friendships from the past
How true to life the story was. As much as things change, they stay the same. Secrets are hard to digest and come to terms with and be disappointed in those we thought we knew but really did not. Enjoyed the emotions brought forward in the book.

An engaging story of Sisterly love and a bond that can’t be broken.
This is the 2nd book written by Jessie Newton and I liked it as much as the first one. The main characters are well developed and the story continues to show their vulnerabilities and the strong bond these five women have for each other. A sixth woman is a mother figure to them and they seek her love and advice with difficulties in their lives. If you like books with strong, yet vulnerable women, a bond among friends that can’t that can’t be broken and characters who are flawed and learn from their flaws, then this book is for you! I encourage you to sit down with these six women and immerse yourself with their life stories to enjoy! I’m looking forward to the next Five Island Cove book “Christmas at the Cove!’I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Beautifully Rendered
Heartwarming reminder of the beauty and treasure to be found in the bonds of lasting friendships among a group of women spanning a period of childhood to mid-life and beyond.Set in the magical environment of New England Islands, protected by a lighthouse, both physical and mental symbolic, the novel pulls you in to a time and space that you will be reluctant to leave when the book ends.

Continues the saga
I enjoyed learning more about the women in this saga. They are changing as their circumstances change, but they eventually return to their true selves. Nice to see that none of them are perfect. With the flaws come mistakes in choices, but the foundation for them is their friendship with one another. Good to be reminded that we should value friendship and not be embarrassed or too proud to admit when we need help and specifically what we need.

Friendship above all!
This is a beautifully written story about several women who have known each other since their early teens and have developed an amazing friendship for life. Each of them has enough demons and insecurities hidden deep inside but always when they need support they find each other and one gives support to the other to overcome the hardship. They also discover a lot of hidden information in the past of two of them that can break their relationship apart and forever. This book is an ode to love between human beings and to goodwill, it sure is an inspiring reading in these difficult times we are going through.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved the cape and the islands
I wish I had been able to go up in a lighthouse when I was there. I thought the story was great and the surprises and secrets were worthy of a mystery. All the main characters involved had secrets. Glad some were resolved before the book ended as feels like it will be a soap opera. Loved this edition though.

A page turner!
This novel is all about friendship. It covers heartbreak, turmoil, pain, suffering, and most of all love and acceptance. When five friends meet in a small coastal town after one of the gal’s husband passes away. They all need a change of scenery and the togetherness only available with pals they’ve had for years. They never expect the things that happen while they are at Fire Island Cove. Secrets are shared, confidence grows, and each finds out things about themselves and others which only helps to glue their relationships.

fun book
I love the intrigue and not knowing what will happen. It is a read that is delightful yet frustrating how decisions the characters make often are not so good. It seems to turn out well which is so much like drama that happens in our life.

Great read!
I’m not one to read books that are part of a series. But I have made an exception. These High School friends who grew up on the water are now grown adults have now become “my’ friends. They all came back to support Kristen who supported all of them when they were in high school. I won’t spoil the story with any details other than to say this was a great read. The story line and characters are so real. The setting won my heart. I now want to move to an island, live there all my days – but only with friends as dear as these ladies. I can’t wait to read the second book, which I just sent to my Kindle. Enjoy!

I feel like the Seafarer Girls are family
After reading the first book in the series, I couldn’t wait to follow the stories of these fascinating ladies. While the five main characters at first were hard to keep track of, by this third book I feel like I know each of them personally and even their families. What resonates most with me is that these ladies are middle age, like me. And have teenage children. Like me. They experience real problems and real joys and most of all, an enduring friendship which makes their ongoing adventures a delight to follow. I am impatient for the next book to be released!

The Lighthouse
First book I have read by Jessie Newton under that name and chose it because I love lighthouses. What a great story of childhood friendships being rekindled even with great changes in their lives. The lies left behind by Joel were so hard but helped each of them grow. Eager to read other books in the series.

Another great book.
Another great book in the sand pact series. The sea faring girls make a pack to come together at Alice’s beach house. There is a lot going on. The book is greater for it. There is a lot of personal growth that comes from the girls coming together. They give each other strength that is hard to come by when you are going it alone. I loved the charachter development in this book. I cries, was scared, laughed and felt proud of the girls. I felt like i was apart of the pack with the group. The author has a way of pulling you in. I literally had a hard time putting the book down. Thestory was very well td. I recommend for sure. I personally cannot wait for the next book.

Childhood friends forever
I really enjoyed the book, but found it difficult to remember who was who in the story. It also didn’t finish with all of the story lines at least for me. It’s the one down side for me reading books on my Kindle, it makes it difficult to go back to reread something as apposed to a regular hard back or paper back book.

This is a very nice women’s story. Heartwarming with lots of thought provoking stories of the five women who come together after many years. They had been close friends as teens and as adults each went their own way. They come together to attend a friends husbands funeral. They rediscovered themselves and each other all over again—still friends and needing each others friendships. If you like women’s fiction you will enjoy this story.

Lovely story with charming and heart touching friendships
I enjoyed this book so much, and found myself reading straight through to the end! It was interesting to learn about each of these ladies, the triumphs, the ups and downs of their lives, and the love they all shared with each other. Having moved from one end of the US to the other and then marrying a USN man and moving to a number of Naval bases, I have always wondered what it would be like to have life long friends. I did however enjoy meeting people from all over, and always was lucky to find a few special friends each place we lived, and it was wonderful to live in so many varied and beautiful areas. I guess I’m a gypsy at heart, but I always wondered…….and now maybe I know. Thank you so much, Jessie Newton! Back in the day we didn’t have the internet, it was snail mail or expensive long distance phone calls, moving all the time made it very difficult to keep in touch. Book 2 in the series is now in my library and Book 3 is preordered. I strongly recommend giving this series a read, all the little twists and turns and surprises will have you captivated.

Wow what a book
Really loved the first two books in this series and have really enjoyed this book as well. Started it the other night and finished it this morning. So hard to put down. The five ladies who were in the Seafaring group all those years back have grown into the best of friends and really seem to have each other’s back when they need help. No matter what kind of help is needed. You don’t cross one girl without crossing them all.All I can see about this book is you certainly don’t want to miss it. A great cast of characters and you will laugh, smile, cry and sometimes get angry. You go through the feels with it. A must for the romantic.

Jessie Newton’s Five Island series
I’ve read the 1st and 3rd books in this series. Character development and interaction are well done. It is a feel good narrative despite them all facing some tough revelations and events. I like the way they support one another and are still close to their former Seafaring Girls troop leader who led them as girls and continues to be an important part of their lives. It is a series that should be read in sequence. I read the 3rd book many months after the first and it took me several chapters to realize these were the same characters I met in the 1st book. I found the books well worth my time to read.

Forgiveness and a pledge to keep in touch for 5 ladies.
The 5 Seafaring Girls reunite for the death of their high school leader’s husband. Issues surrounding marriage unfaithfulness, relationship troubles, family dynamics all come out. The characters are interesting as is the way they react to and deal with all the issues. I enjoyed this story. While it’s the beginning of a series, I felt it concluded well and didn’t leave you wondering.

Friends and events from childhood come out.
Lighthouse is a wonderful read. I couldn’t put it down once I started. The inactions between all the characters lives was good. I’d love to be able to have time with my best friend from childhood , but she passed away about 10 years ago.. Some of the events in the women’s lives reminded me of my friend.

They are all likeable characters & I felt like one of the girls when reading this. I can’t wait for the next book.

This is a clean, well written book.
All the characters are well thought out and show a variety of types. Well written and interesting all the way thru. I was intrigued with the characters, the location of the action and how well they all interacted with each other. Well worth your time and money.

A wonderful book in this fantastic series. The stories continue from each book to the next. Amazing characters you can’t help but fall in love with, they’re well developed, strong and feel like family when you finish the book. Heartwarming, endearing and truly enjoyable.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The characters transitioned so smoothly. I know the books are fiction but I’m hoping all the women are successful with raising their children and finding a good person to love and to be loved. Thank you Jesse for a heartwarming and believable series. I will definitely read “Christmas at the Cove” next week when it comes out.

Longstanding friendship sustains us during hard times.
Wow, it’s hard to condense all the feelings I had reading this book. I love the way the women worked with each other to help overcome problems. So many hard truths were revealed that the friends were able to lean on each other. I also really enjoyed how clear the descriptions were of the landscape and the sea. I almost feel as if I actually visited there. This is such an engaging book that I couldn’t stop reading it. I’m glad there are more books to follow.

A great story
I enjoyed this book about women who were close friends in high school and come back home again for a funeral for Joel, who was married to a beloved older woman figure. Reading about their personalities and seeing how they picked up their friendships decades later kept me turning the pages. The scenery and the lighthouse added to this entertaining read and so did unraveling some secrets Joel had taken with him to the grave.
Shirlynn Buck –
Great View
The Lighthouse is a superb blending of old friendships, marital trials and tribulations and the revelation of secrets of the past. As the Seafaring Girls reunite to console their mentor and second mother after her husband’s death, many memories of the past resurrect with unforgettable impact on their future. As more secrets unfold and a romance begins the reader discovers old friendships are never lost. It is a delightful read.

I want friends like this!
I would recommend this to all my romance reading friends! The prose isn’t juvenile, the dialog isn’t boring or droning, everyone has a plausible story, and not all the men are hounds or losers. The depth of the characters doesn’t go deep, so you know there is more to learn about each one. Can’t wait to start book 2!

Wow! So much is happening in the cove. The ladies have all kept their pacts and are making big mo es in their lives. Eloise has a lot going on. It has been a roller coaster. The friendahips are developing at full speed ahead but then trouble comes their way. Secrets are let out of the bag. Feels are hurt. Can the seafaring girls reunite and pull through. The drama is exciting. I definitely recommend.

Great stories, real life situations
Five friends return again to Five Island to fulfill a promise to keep in touch and support one another. Robin, Eloise, Kelli and AJ get together at Alice’s island home, along with their children for a two week vacation. Each of the five women are going through major changes in their life. Opening up, receiving support and going forward are the major themes of the book. Although a stand alone, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Harsh truths and lies
I was irritated along the way as it took so long to reveal the deceptions, lies, and feelings. Tragic in circumstances and death, life isn’t what we think or hope at times. I was disgusted with the creature the story covers, and hurt for his wife and the ladies. Coming to terms with our own hearts and lives especially with children involved is complicated. Resolutions matter when so much is at stake.

Secrets can be disastrous.
I’m looking forward to reading more stories about this group of friends who were like sisters while growing up. Then as they left the island to get on with their lives they sorta drifted apart. Only Robin continued to live there. With the death of the husband of the couple who nurtured these girls during their teens they returned to the island for the funeral. Secrets then surfaced that affected all of them.

Five Island Cove Reunion
The Lighthouse is a story filled with desires, the desire of Robin to reunite with her friends from the Seafaring Girls and her desire to comfort Kristen after the death of her husband, Joel Shields. The four friends agree to come to Five Island Cove, some willingly and others reluctantly. In the course of their interactions they discover secrets that cause them to question their relationships with each other and with the man who was so prominent in their lives. It is a story that reveals how each of the women feel about their lives and follows their journeys throughout this time. A heartwarming story that is well written by Jessie Newton. Not an easy story as it explores how deeply unhappy people can be in spite of all the success that they have achieved but it also shows that when brought to the surface circumstances and feelings can be changed. An inspiring read.

A well written, thoughtful book. The friendship between these women is deep and abiding. Everyone should have lifelong friends like these. The storyline shows just how much can be withstood when a friendship runs so deep. Kristens life is turned upside down by her husband Joels death and the secrets uncovered. Her girls, five women she cared for during their teenage years, come home to the island to help her through.

Enjoyed It A Lot
I enjoyed this book a great deal. As other reviewers have pointed out, it was hard to keep track of all of the characters. I wrote a list of who’s who and that helped. I liked the character development. It seems that the six ladies knew each other a lot better than any of them knew Kristen’s husband Joel. It is a mystery why he left behind all of that paperwork that would reveal his hidden deeds. It seems no one really knew him, especially his wife. It was a sad story but yet these strong ladies handled the secrets and trauma very well. I would recommend this book and wish I had friends like that!

A feel-good story of the relationship of 5 women who have been friends from childhood. Although they have drifted down separate paths, they still have a bond among them that the years can’t erase. Secrets…break or mend?
Secrets can tear apart relationships or they can bond them. The Lighthouse is more than a sweet beach read, although it is that as well. Mourning the loss of the man she thought she knew, Kristan turns to the “girls” she mentored so many years ago. Well developed characters will have you wanting to spend more time with them.

Attention keeping book with no improper words or scenes
This is a wonderfully captivating read. Extraordinary command of the English language and a plot that certainly resonated with me. The friendships described in The Lighthouse harken back to the days of my youth, when you gave to your friends and they in turn gave back to you. The idea that such friendships could exist in today’s world is what many of us long for. We who have a few long time loyal friends identify completely with the 5 women enjoying the Lighthouse.

Clean story about relationships
I don’t quite know what to say about this book. It’s really kind of a strange story. I thought it was supposed to be a Christian story but faith never entered into the story. The secrets that caused such angst weren’t really all that bad. The ending was too abrupt for my taste. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading this book and forming their own opinion but I’m not sure I’d read another one by this author. The main character who died turned out to be a despicable man who adversely impacted the remaining characters lives. I still gave this 5 stars. Read it and form your own opinion.

5 stars for The Summer Sand Pact (Five Island Cove Book 2). Alice Kelton has decided to divorce her cheating husband, and move with her children to their summer home in Five Island Cove. Easy Read
This book is real nice and teaches us what friendship is all about, many think a friend agrees with the other friend, just to make them happy; but a real friend is that person that tells you “how it really is” thus taking a chance of breaking that chain of friendship.I truly enjoyed the book, and look forwards to the “rest of the story” Paul Harvey still being missed by me.

Secrets, With Friends!
I read the second book in this series, first, but, things were missing, so I came back to read #1. This series is so real life, friends, missing friends for years, then catching up at something like a funeral. And it’s a fine reminder to all of us, especially women, that our expectations change as we age, our view of ourselves changes as we age, as circumstances change, that we never thought would, our view of the world, our world, and others, change. And what a gift to be reunited. in even the most difficult situations. And, yes, my friends, SECRETS CAN KILL…our intimacy, our friendships, our families. .Share, speak the truth. On to #3.

forget the dust and dishes!! You won’t put this one down!!
I could not put this book down!! When through, there was the first two chapters of book 2. I did not know there were going to be 5 books! Now I have to wait for the rest to come out..dang! Great plot, super and important to me, no graphic sex! I am so tired of starting a book, liking it, only to find out the author only knows one word..”f!!!” which appears almost on every page and lots of sex. I wish there was some way those of us who would rather read a super book than the others could know contents before getting the book. I am finally wising up to the authors who write for those of you who enjoy the sex pages…that’s fine by me, and as I learn the authors who cater to you, I stay away from their books. Ms. Newton gave me lots of pleasure with The Lighthouse and I can hardly wait for the others to follow. Thank you , Jessica, I have put you on the pedestal with Wendy Wax, BBFrank, Inglath Cooper and others like them.

Great book about friendship among 5 women who grew up together but dealt with different issues in life. The relationship between the women was realistic and heartwarming as well as the honesty among the group. Patti V.

Mercy Me
I really loved this book. The sand pact was an interesting plot line that held five girls together for 30 years. Love and respect never stopped throughout this book. Add in, divorce, marital problems and just plain not putting up with life’s crap and you have true love and undying friendship.

A death and old secrets reunite friends who had once been as clisevas sisters.
I think this is the first book by this author. As others have said is is clean and heartfelt. These women were all urged to come home to support their mentor and friend after the death of her husband. Most of the women still had ties to the islands but hadn’t returned in years. The deceased had been a pack rat and as these women tried to help their mentor get through these difficult days it was quickly discovered that her husband had not been who she thought and as secrets were revealed it was like pulling a bandaid off slowly. But these girls had grown up together and their bond remained strong even after years of separation and their stories make a wonderful book. I look forward th the rest of this new series!

Fun in the sun
I loved it. The continuing story of 5 women who have remained good friends since school. Adult hood has been difficult for some of them, newly discovered old secrets have been painful. They had been separated for years until a funeral drew them back together. With support these woman have started to find the strength to become true person hidden inside each of them. Alice, bless her stood up to her cheating husband and she won. Kelli is finally breaking out of her shell and it’s about time. As for the others their stories are still growing I’m sure we will find out what they are going to do in the next book. I can’t wait to read it.

Sweet summer reading
A good summer book club read about a group of friends who grew up on an island together but have drifted apart. The story delves in secrets of their past that none of them suspected.

Lifetime friends are there when you need them!
A beautiful second book on the reunion of five friends that grew up together. Each of the women face difficulties in their lives. The story brings out both the good and bad in each of these women, but they always get things straightened out. I really like the diversity among the women and the way they are there for each other. Also, the author does an amazing job of describing the scenery. I can almost see the landscape!

Hard to put the book down
There is plenty of emotion to be felt in this story. Friendships are renewed after being apart for a number of years. However, in the midst of the pathos one would expect surrounding the death and preparation for a funeral that brought them all back to the Lighthouse, additional trauma shockingly erupts, sending the 5 friends and their beloved mother-figure into mega tailspins.A must read for all. I eagerly anticipate the next book in this series. Well done, Jessie Newton!

The Cliffside Inn Book 3
This writer just keeps the suspense going with more and more dramatic issues coming forth for the characters. The characters lives are so intertwined and you feel like you yourself are part of their group. This writer has a great talent for story telling and the story continues in the next book in this series.

5 women at the beach
This was a dark story but a good read. The story brings together 5 ladies that were Seafaring Girls, when they were young. You will be able to relate to at least one of the women’s story. Love for each other and dark secrets from their past, converged back on the island when the husband of their Seafaring Girls leader passes away. Wanting to be supportive, they all help to clean up the mess left behind. Only to uncover secrets they all wanted to bury.Anxious to continue the series. If you love the beach like I do, you will love this book.

What a wonderful book!
What a wonderful book! I loved the characters, the plot, the friendships and the reality of it all. It was refreshing to read about adult middle-aged women rather than ones in their 20s for a change! I will definitely be reading the next in the series!

The Summer Sand Pact
A wonderfully written story that’s a perfect summer time, beach read. Fantastic characters you’ll love getting to know, who are also strong, well developed and feel like family. The story line flows smoothly and pulls you in from the beginning and holds you captive til you read the last words. Highly recommend!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am Robin!
I am absolutely sure that every woman who reads Facebook can identify with one or the other of the women in this story. However reading it I can see myself in Robin, and her mother is exactly like my mother was.

True friends have your back
I am really enjoying this series. There are multiple story lines going on at once, but they all link back to the five women friends and the men (and children) in their lives. This continues to show that you can love, argue and fight and still be best friends. Each of these women are someone I would like to know.(I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
