Another wonderful story in the Hammond Family, this is such a fantastic series of stories of families and friends. Mike and Gertie have known each other for years, they dated when they were just young teenagers but as they got older, they went their own ways. Mike gets hurt while serving in the military and is forced to return to Ivory Peaks at the same time as Gertie returns. They still find the same attraction and she helps him to recover from shoulder surgery. But then they both get so busy with their own jobs, and they are both trying to recover from past hurts that it almost gets in their way. I love Liz’s stories, how she keeps us up to date with all the family throughout the story even though it is mostly about Mike and Gertie. Such a beautiful story, so real and heartfelt.
