Description

Scarlett Adams has had enough. Enough of men breaking her heart. Enough of her boss saying she needs to do better. Enough of the traffic and hustle of the city. So when the opportunity to take over her grandfather’s horse ranch in the hills of California comes along, she jumps at it. She’d rather spend her time with horses, dogs, and goats than honking cars, power suits, and men who don’t call back.

And she’s finally happy.

Hudson Flannigan knows three things: horses, cars, and that he’s never going to make his father proud. Not only that, but he’s disappointed his mother, too. Well, his ex-wife did that when she found someone else to love, but it’s somehow Hudson’s fault.

When Scarlett needs help getting the run-down ranch back in shape, she hires Hudson to get all the vehicles in proper working order. The spark between them is instant and hot, but neither of them wants to endure another painful breakup.

Can Scarlett and Hudson find the faith and forgiveness they need to fix themselves as they restore Last Chance Ranch to its former glory? Or will this fine-tuning of their hearts backfire and leave them more broken than before?

  1. SL K(The Flipped Page)

Romance, clean; series but stand alone readLI is always a favorite read! More of a 3.5 for me as a reader. Genuine honest characters with past hurts that gradually open up to each other, and learn to trust and love again. Both Scarlett and Hudson have worries and secrets. As they each help each other and figure out their present and work on their future, their sweet fall is beautiful to read. Great side characters, and with the back story and their pasts, a lovely read.

  7. Ann Rose

The plot was excellent! The second chance for two individuals to recover from divorce and persistent self-doubt. I look forward to the next book in the series and I Will recommend it to all my friends.

  8. Karen Semones

I loved this heartwarming love story of Scarlett and Hudson. The characters, both human and animals, were delightful. Scarlett moved in with her Grandpa to take care of him and to restore his ranch to become an animal sanctuary. Gramps was a hoarder so that was the first project on Scarlett’s list. Hudson showed up one day to return a dog he had found that had escaped the ranch. Scarlett hired him to help with the cleanup and to fix up several broken down vehicles on the property that they could sell. The ranch was the home for horses, cows, llamas, pot bellied pigs, cats, dogs, and goats. During their cleanup and restoration with the help of Adele, Scarlett’s best friend, who also lives in a cabin at the ranch and two men Scarlett hired, Sawyer and Carson, Scarlett and Hudson started dating. Both were divorced and in their 40’s so they were both shocked to find out they loved each other. The ending was perfect. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a clean romance. Liz Isaacson is a great western romance author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

  9. Kate M

As always pleased and enjoyed the story. There were the ?? and unexpected turns in the story that did not come to the conclusion I had and so enjoyed story all the more. You have a nice style of writing, Liz. Another homerun and off to super start for this series.

  10. Christy Gray

Downloaded this book on a whim, never hearing of it before. So thankful I did! So cute & so good! I really enjoyed the characters & the concept of this book. Definitely looking for more from this author.

  11. Jim & Roni

Liked this book. Second chances at love and learning to love themselves. Filled with lots of animals and people fulfilling their dreams. Clean romance.

  12. J G

‘Last Chance Ranch’ was a feel-good read. Its enthralling plot was focused on Scarlett, a forty-three-year-old lady who came back to her grandpa’s ranch near Los Angeles to help him reboot. She hired Hudson, a forty-five-year-old man, as her handyman. Both had baggage yet tried to overcome it by trying to achieve their HEA by finding themselves and/or interacting with various characters, some of whom provided comic relief. I liked the appealing narrative.

  13. Richard A. Rizzo

Scar lett is an ow ner of a farm with alot of ani mals,it’s like a res cue mis sion.

  14. 430booklover

Scarlett and Hudson have each been hurt by their past spouses, so each struggles to get past their fear of becoming close to another person. They also are working to save her Grampa’s farm. Interesting characters, although Adele is a confusing woman. Well-written, entertaining, Christian story which shows how Scarlett and Hudson struggle and sometimes fail, but don’t stop turning to God for help. Lots of animals and Adele starts holding goat yoga classes with baby goats.

  15. Sewing lady

First of all, I want to say that I always enjoy Liz Isaacson’s books and this one disappoint. Next, we lived in Glendora, CA for awhile; the place where this story was supposed to take place; so it was fun to see what Liz did with her story. I liked the main characters, Scarlett and Hudson and Scarlett’s friend, Adelle. This was kind of a quick read for me, but I enjoyed how the love story unfolded. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean love story.

  16. Laleewhite

Excellent fast paced romance. When two divorced persons accidentally find themselves in a bind helping one another love begins to flourish again.

  17. The Voracious Reader

Scarlett Adams moved from L.A. to her grandfather’s ranch after her divorce. She needed a change, and the animals kept her busy enough. She hires some cowboys, and Hudson Flannigan turns out to be everything she wants in a man, but she’s afraid – afraid that her weight will be a problem and afraid that no one will ever truly love her.I really liked the first part of this book, but when Scarlett’s misgivings start sabotaging the relationship she and Hudson have, my interest waned. Even Hudson, who was such a strong, adorable character to start with, becomes less so. It was a good start, but it would have been better if a different problem had been found for the climax. This one didn’t work for me, especially when the problems just fell away with no explanation.

  18. Steven Grey

Such an insig htful ,ca ring, lov ing inter pret ation of the afterm ath of divo rce and the way back. Marve lous!

  19. Jeannine Wickliffe

I loved this book and didn’t want to put it down. Scarlett has returned to Last Chance Ranch in an effort to save it and to help her Grandfather. The ranch has a lot of rescue animals and Scarlett wants to get help and turn it into a rescue sanctuary for animals. To do this she needs help and starts hiring people to work on the ranch. One of them is Hudson and he fells that God has led him here. He works along with Scarlett and the others to help make her dreams come true. Now Hudson is finding himself drawn to Scarlett and he knows she has feelings for him but she is scared.. Can the two come together and will Gid fulfill their dreams?

  20. Mary Miller

This was a nice contemporary ranch romance on a animal rescue ranch. They worked hard and built a wonderful rescue. They rescued more than just the animals. Good clean read!

    Very well done!

This book was refreshing and very clean. Just what I was looking for as a Christian woman who loves romance, funny, sassy, heartfelt characters and hope. I did not have to worry about curse words or sexual encounters that would contradict my Christian beliefs on such matters. Nicely done.

  23. Southern Sherry

This book was a surprise for me ! I selected it from my Kindle Unlimited library as a blind choice. I had never read anything by the Author and didn’t even read the storyline blurb. I randomly picked it Because I needed something to read and all my “Go To Authors” I had already read everything already offered and all the books I did want to read all had release dates later this year. However, I enjoyed this book enough to have already downloaded the next book in the Last Chance Romance series by Liz Isaacson. And romance books are not even one of my favorite reading genre’s!! LOL

It Is amazing how good a story was written about an animal rescue ranch. All the men coming to the ranch wealthy and do not even offer to help get the place on good financial ground. Shame on them!

Scarlett left a high powered job to help run her grandfather’s farm. Gramps’ farm includes horses, llamas, pigs, goats and loads of abandoned dogs. Scarlett loves the farm and needed a change after her divorce. Hudson was her second hire to help run the ranch. He’d been traveling and taking odd jobs for a year after his wife divorced him. Both Scarlett and Hudson have doubts and their self esteems took hits in the past. Will they be able to restore the farm to what it had been decades ago? Can God speak to them and heal their hearts by being on the ranch? This is a wonderfully sweet romance!

    Great Mature Romance

This is a wonderful story of 2 forty-something year olds, Scarlett Adams and Hudson Flannigan. Both are divorced and don’t have a lot of confidence in themselves. At Last Chance Ranch, they both begin to get their confidence back and find themselves falling for each other. Of course, that can’t be easy and it takes a while for them to realize they belong together and at the ranch that they helped come to life. A great start to a new series.

I really enjoyed this warm, emotional story of two sweet people and the friends and animals they rescue. Their best last chance

Scarlett and Hudson have both gone through tough times, with wandering ex-spouses in their pasts. Both have escaped their previous lifestyles, Scarlett has returned to help resurrect her grandfather’s ranch in the foothills of the LA basin. Hudson stumbled across Scarlett’s Last Chance Ranch just as he is ready to find a stable life after a year on the road. Although both these mature adults have been successful in the past they have also faced disappointment and betrayal. Finding faith and trust in each other is not easy but it is worthwhile and serves to create a loving family story of strength and courage.

    Sweet Cowboy Romance

Scarlett and Hudson are both over 40 and have had bad endings to prior marriages. There is a spark between them right from their first meeting. Scarlett had left LA to take over her grandfathers Last Chance Ranch, a rescue for horses, dogs, goats, cats and llamas. Hudson applies for a job there, after leaving his past behind and traveling for over a year. The characters are so well written that I found myself trying to knock some sense into them to stop fighting their destiny. A fun, clean Christian story. Perfect for a beach read or curling up for a rainy day read.

I loved the setting and confidence shown in other areas, but not in herself. At times it felt like looking in the mirror. I cried when he left. Good

When Scarlett came back to take over running Last Chance Ranch for her grandfather she didn’t expect to fall in love with a cowboy she hired. His name was Hudson and he used to own an auto mechanic business. He sold it after his divorce and moved around for 13 months finding odd jobs. He found one of Scarlett ‘s grandfather ‘s dogs down by the road and returned him. He told Scarlett he was looking for a job and there was a number of vehicles on the ranch that Scarlett wanted fixed and then sold. After her grandmother died her grandfather became a hoarder. So when she came back she got a big dumpster and started throwing things away. She had a lot of acres and part of that her grandfather had dogs, cats, cattle, cows, horses, goats, and Llamas. Her best friend Adele also lived there. They both went thru a painful divorce. Scarlett wanted to foster other animals there also. So when she signed on and the woman called her to say she had a pair of dogs and a horse to board at the ranch Scarlett said yes. It turned out the 2 dogs had belonged to Scarlett but she lost them to her ex in the divorce. Though Scarlett thought she was fat Hudson loved her just the way she was. Eventually she realized that she loved Hudson and she didn’t want to be with out him. So finally they got married and said that they wanted to adopt because they were both in their 40’s.

An exciting story about a cowboy and his true love

This cowboy was extremely patient and accommodating. Probably a rarity, but so perfect for this not-so-young ranch owner. I loved this book.

    Liz, I love your books

I like the multiple number of things that had to be overcom. The tenacity of both parties that was required to overcome them. The honesty to each other in the process. The results in the conclusion which I will not tell you. You will have to read it.

    Last Chance Ranch

    Good, clean Christian romance

Scarlett and Hudson have each been hurt by their past spouses, so each struggles to get past their fear of becoming close to another person. They also are working to save her Grampa’s farm. Interesting characters, although Adele is a confusing woman. Well-written, entertaining, Christian story which shows how Scarlett and Hudson struggle and sometimes fail, but don’t stop turning to God for help. Lots of animals and Adele starts holding goat yoga classes with baby goats.

    Wonderful

I truly loved this novel. While it is book one in a series, it is also a great stand alone. The characters grew into one’s the reader related so well with that talking to them and telling them to do something is one many readers will find themselves doing. The storyline was wonderful. It is a happy ending novel, but one the reader will feel they have been a part of from very early in the novel as they slowly work toward it. The ups and downs and frustrations and achievements.I am looking forward to reading the next novel in the series.Rating: 4.8⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Scarlett and Hudson

Scarlett is at her grandfather’s ranch, The Last Chance Ranch, after having been officially divorced for six months! She is trying her best to get it cleaned up and in working order so she can present it to Forever Friends as an animal rescue ranch. The only thing she misses from her marriage is her fur babies Billy and Bob her dogs that Vance got to keep in the settlement. She loves Gramps and loves being there for him. She just needs to figure out how to get the old vehicles running and off the place before Forever Friends comes. Hudson finds a dog out on the road and hopes he’s bringing it back to it’s correct home when he meets Scarlett! Well after talking some, she realizes that he may be just what she had been praying for. He just sold his repair shop about a year ago and he agrees to fix “Prime” her mailbox! Do things go smoothly for these two divorced people? Will their insecurities get in the way of their finding their way to each other? So many obstacles and misunderstandings to get in the way! Liz Isaacson has done an excellent job of writing this story. You can even identify with the characters!
