Joy Bartlett needs a blueprint before she takes a single step in any direction. She loves seeing what she’s getting into before committing, and moving 1200 miles from Texas to South Carolina just because half of her Supper Club has doesn’t mean she’s going to start packing boxes.

She is terribly lonely in Sweet Water Falls without Bea, Cass, and Lauren, and as another member of their monthly dinner party gets ready to leave Texas in the rear-view mirror, Joy starts creating her own blueprint.

After all, she doesn’t want a Blueprint for Survival.

She wants a beach blueprint.

One that lays out how her life will look and feel, right down to the tiny nooks and crannies if she decides to uproot herself and leave her family and her heritage and join her friends on Hilton Head Island.

There is a strong influence in her life, pulling her toward the beach and island life: a sexy, strong landscaper named Scott Anderson. He’s asked her out several times, but Joy has turned him down every time.

When she hears that he’s going to take someone else to dinner, the thought flies against everything in Joy’s baby beach blueprint – because Scott’s a big player in that. So she texts him and makes it clear that she doesn’t want him to go out with anyone…except her.

Thus, a long-distance relationship between Joy and Scott begins, and Joy’s blueprint starts to get messy. Very messy.

  1. Paula Bond

The fourth installment in Elana Johnson’s delightful Hilton Head Island series, this book follows a group of 40/50-something ladies who forged a strong bond when they started a Supper Club back in Sweet Water, TX. As they begin to migrate to Hilton Head, you can almost hear the ocean waves rolling as you immerse yourself in the story. I’ve enjoyed each of the books in this series, and this one didn’t disappoint. Elana Johnson’s characters are so warm and so real that you’d like to jump into the story and join their Supper Club yourself. She has a way of inviting you into the story, and whether the characters are teens or older adults or somewhere in between, they are endearing and with the help of their friends, they always work through their issues in time for the happily ever after ending. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I received this book as an ARC reader and this is my honest opinion.

  2. Lynette Dyer

I’m really enjoying the Hilton Head Island Series, and The Beach Blueprint is a great addition about the Supper Club. Joy Bartlett likes to have a plan before committing (I can relate!), but her growing relationship with supportive and patient Scott Anderson just might change that. This is a great mix of well-written women’s fiction and well-paced romance. Ms. Johnson writes stories with realistic relationships better than anyone. To fully enjoy these books, I’d recommend reading them in order.
