Very helpful look at autistic family interactions

A very compelling story. Good character development. This story provides an insight into the daily painful struggle of caring for a handicapped child the main characters hear from God and Obey him, but there is a lack of the usual Christian Life of Bible study and prayer

    Clean read

This was a great read. The characters were well defined. The story moved along at a wonderful pace and best of all it was believable. I truely didnt know what was comjng. Good clean read. The kissing scenes were just enough.

    Awesome

I choose this rating because Reese and Carley both had vulnerabilities that they each eventually were able to open up about to one another.Ms. Issacson chose a topic that really hit home for me, and I’m sure for many others. I will definitely tell others to read this extraordinary novel. Thank you Liz Issacson.

    Keep ’em comin’

I hope you never run out of ideas, Liz Isaacson! There are never too many good clean books to read. Novellas are my favorites, because I still have to cook, clean, and work occasionally. Being a Texan also helps me identify with the characters and small town lifestyle.

    Exciting, Clean Contemporary Romance

I really enjoyed this book. I love it when second chances work out! Plenty of horses, wide open spaces, and clean romance. The characters are wonderful and I loved the interactions between all of the players. There is mystery and intense scenes between the villain and the heroes. I felt like I was there trying to figure things out. I highly recommend this book and author. Happy Reading!

“Christmas In Three Rivers: Three Rivers Ranch Romance Novella Collection”

A set of four stories, each one hooking me from the start. This set is definitely worth reading! The first story is about Andrea Larsen owner of a Boutique and Cowboy Lawrence Collins. The second story is about Sandy Keller owner of the Pancake House and Tad Jorgensen a Helicopter Pilot. The third story is about Grace Lewis a Pastry Chef and Jonathan Carver Carpenter. The fourth story is about Taryn Tucker a T V reporter and Kenny Stockton a Cowhand at Three Rivers Ranch.I absolutely love the complete Three Rivers series. I love that it is a Christian romance that does not leave you disappointed. I also love how God guides each couple to their happily ever after.

Most enjoyable and clean Christian romance – highly recommend!

I like to read for relaxation and enjoyment. As such, it is refreshing and enjoyable to read a good, clean, Christian romance with likable, well developed characters and plot. I totally enjoyed Second Chance Ranch by Liz Isaacson. This is the first of a multi book series that can certainly be read as a standalone novel. Based on how well I enjoyed this, I do plan to read more, and soon. Thanks for a sweet and good clean story! Well done!

    Excellent, Exceptional & Fantastic!

My my this was an exciting book. Ethan and Bryann sure fought their feelings for one another as well as Whether or not to stay in the Rodeo circuit or not.It was amazing, the events leading up to Bryann deciding what to do with her life and being able to include Ethan in all she wanted to accomplish.Ethan’s fight with himself being a different man sure had its ups and downs. I enjoyed listening to him talk to himself and was proud when he turned to God and asked for his help.Beautiful Story! I loved it!

Such a wonderful series. I have read out of order yet, each story has such a sweet, tale of trust, love, friendship, hope and faith. With interesting, likeable characters it makes this reader almost wish I could load up and move to this small country town too! Grab a cuppa and be prepared to take a few hours off from the rat race to enjoy the world of Three Rivers Ranch. Looking forward to more amazing reads from Liz Isaacson!

    Good, clean Christian romance- Superb!

Every book in this series is phenomenal. They are good, clean Christian romances that make you feel good. Now, they aren’t perfectly written (like, not a New York Times Bestseller type of writing) and are a little cheesy at parts, but the overall tone and story line is superb. I definitely recommend this series!

    Courage

Reading about Pete’s military life and injuries then Chelesa’s past engagement and both of their heart aches, and how you brought them together thru Courage Reins. Pete’s commitment to helping veterans and others with disabilities using the calming influence of horses was amazing and healing. Your storytelling made me feel so lucky and the gift Pete was giving to those including himself was brilliant and caring. Loved this story!!!!

I love the story of Frank and Heidi! We often wonder why God puts more than one good option in our life at a time but Heidi learns that there is only one best option. When her sister, Maggie, tells her to trust her faith to see her through, Heidi realizes that’s the only choice she has. And God is forever faithful to guide us to His best!

    Rodeo or follow your dream?

Brynn is a renowned barrel racer. Her dad handles everything for her, but is this her life’s dream? Ethan works on the Three Rivers Ranch & loves his job, trying to grow in his new Christian life. Brynn meets Ethan to ask if he’d come back to the rodeo as a bull rider, but he really doesn’t want to go back to that life. As he prays about his decision, he has a peace about it. This is a great book on doing what God wants & putting our dreams on hold. I love this series & hope there are more books in the future!

    Where it all began . . .

ALL the Three Rivers Ranch books are AWESOME !! I loved The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch because Liz takes us back to the beginning of the series. This book tells the story of Heidi & Frank (Mom and Dad) and the sacrifices they each made to make Three Rivers Ranch successful as well as a place of healing and restoring for hurting and lost souls. I love the way the series portrays our Veterans. I also love the way Faith in God is a central part of each of Liz’s books. I recommend this series to anyone who loves to read clean well written books that deal with every day life. I did receive this book at no cost. This is an honest review.

Great sweet western romance! Can’t wait to read more in the series!

This book was my first introduction to Liz Isaacson’s sweet western romances and I’m hooked! It was really fun to read a story set back just a couple decades ago when there were still rotary telephones. It made for an interesting courtship when Heidi and Frank were getting to know each other.I loved Heidi’s character. She was a bit flighty and unsure of the next steps to take and it made it more believable for Frank to sweep her off her feet. The setting was well-written and it was fun to daydream about what it might be like to live on a working ranch. For Heidi, baking for lots of cowboys turns out to be quite the job and it sets off a chain of events that will change her life. This is a fun, sweet read and although it is book 8 in the series, I read it first.

Part of a series, but stands alone

First Lieutenant Peter Marshall was badly burned while in the service and comes to Three Rivers Ranch where he decides to start Courage Reigns an equine therapy program. His friend Major Squire Ackerman owns the ranch, but is away at school to become a Vet. While he’s away his sister, Chelsea returns home to oversee the ranch, but she is broken from a bad relationship and needs the help of the horses as much as the clients. With her marketing skills, she assists in starting Courage Reigns, and works closely with Pete. The plot includes rebuilding lives and forgiveness. An uplifting book!

    Attraction

The attraction between these two is undeniable, but Heidi has a plan and it doesn’t include Frank. At the end of the summer, Heidi must decide between her career or her heart. I love the way Heidi changes the ranch over the summer to an actual home for the ranch hands. Frank realizes that Heidi is what he needs to make this ranch into his dream. I also love the way Heidi and Frank interact with each other.

Great Christmas short stories to enjoy….

Three Rivers, where strangers land, with broken sprites, broken hearts and unresolved hurts from past loves and family strains and each of the short stories is the journey each stranger takes to heal. In their search for answers they end taking jobs in town or at Three Rivers Ranch.. Three Rivers Ranch is a well established ranch, family owned, and expanding. The owners are strong, caring folks that end up with strangers that become part of their family and the town folk look out for one another. Each story is a fast read, unique, and pulls you in and end up loving the characters too. When the stories end, you want MORE, you want to know what happens in their life next, yet content with how things turned out so far.For me, this has been one of the best short stories book I’ve read and closed the book happy and content, as miracles Do happen around Christmas.

Third Times The Charm Reveals The Hurts AndThe Healing

I have never been in a relationship like Chelsea was in with Danny, but I have been in situations where I have been controlled and had to become someone other than me to avoid an explosion. Liz Isaacson brought all the heart-wrenching pain out in Third Times The Charm. I never had the pleasure of reading Second Chance Ranch, but it must be as real and intense as Third Times The Charm. I also didn’t know about equine therapy, but I wish I had when I needed it. I pray God continues to use your books to heal other hurting hearts.

A special reading experience about people who were trying to find out what next for them. The lady was working in RODEO as her Father wanted her to make a name for herself, the man had been out of the circuit for six years. Gotta Love a Cowboy!

Gotta love a cowboy! And Frank is the best… handsome, strong, and yet insecure enough to need Heidi’s full love. This story is about trusting destiny to the plan of God. Tough as that may be with our preconceived ideas of our futures, things always work best when we follow God’s plan. This my first of the Three Rivers series and I’ll certainly read more. Great story and beautifully written. Thanks, Liz.

    A good read.

I loved reading this book. Liz captured so many details in this story. For one the struggles of dealing with PTSD after serving in a war zone. Second is the bond formed by Squire & the men who served with him. Also, the therapy provided with & through the horses. Liz does a great job of describing how the horses help Squire & Pete deal with their PTSD. Mixed in this story is hope, romance, struggles & triumph! I enjoyed this book so much that I had to read the rest of them in the series.

Another wonderful book by Liz Isaacson.. The romance between Tom And Rose was so awesome. And the love Tom also shared with Mari, Rose’s autistic daughter made it even more special. Trusting in God to lead them down the right path made it a even better book. I loved it, best yet.

    Wonderful, Inspiring!

I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!”The Seventh Sergeant” shows the broken side of a veteran, the physical pain instead of just the mental agony that stays behind after the war. Reese Sanders was Pete’s first patient at Courage Reins and has finally began to find his way in the war with his disabilities, that is until an accident might leave him paralyzed permanently. Can Carly Watters help Reese fight his way out of the deep hole of depression? Can there be a love story here?I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it’s like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.

What is not to love? The First Lady not just a good clean romance, but is also great insight for finding direction and taking risks. Most books set in the past attempt to superimpose the characters with modern morals. I appreciated the realistic world view of the characters and that this novel stayed much closer to historically accurate.

Here we are where it all began..back when Three Rivers Ranch is just being taken over by Frank. And Heidi was in Three Rivers just for the summer before returning to San Francisco to complete baking school to become a pastry chef and then start her own bakery. But when Frank and Heidi meet, Frank is instantly smitten and hires her for the summer to clean cabins. And so begins the romance of the first family of Three Rivers Ranch and how Heidi became it’s first lady and discovered some dreams can be postponed for even better ones and how a little faith can be rewarded many times over.

While I have enjoyed all of the books in this series so far, this one was special. It deals with issues that can be difficult for someone who’s recovery while complete hasn’t and won’t ever restore him to what he was before. In this story it focuses more on what attraction and love are really about, not the superficial looks(everyone is going to age, maybe get sick become weaker) but the inside, the emotions and true acceptance we all really crave.

The Story of Frank and Heidi!

I’ve read LOTS of Liz’s books but not in order. It was awesome to read this one about how Frank and Heidi met and fell in love! What a precious story, especially reading about them in later years in some of the other books. Fun to see how their relationship obviously grew and the dreams they had for the ranch came to fruition. Liz writes with great detail and emotion! These books all work as stand-alone stories, but it’s fun to go back and read them in order.

    A wonderful begining and ending

It was wonderful to meet Frank and Heidi and see how the Three Rivers Ranch became a family. Frank and Heidi had ideas for their lives that they wanted then they met. Each wanted their plan to work but then they fell in love. Heidi wanted to finish cooking school and own her own bakery and Frank owned his ranch in Texas. They both had decisions to make and they found out they had to not only listen to their own hearts but also the heart of God. I feel Heidi’s decision was the hardest for she would be making a big change. When she started to really pray about this and then trusted God in the decision she had peace and was able to move on. Frank himself had to work through his problems and also trust in God. They finally work things out and because of that the ranch became a home for many people. This was a wonderful series that I know I will read again. I will miss all of them.

    Another excellent story!

Another very enjoyable book in this series. It is not set at the Three Rivers Ranch this time, but centres on one of the characters who has been popping up in all the stories from the beginning.Ethan is persuaded to return to the Rodeo circuit. He is not sure he wants to, but goes to help out an old acquaintance, and because he is intrigued by Brynn, whom he meets through the old acquaintance. She is a barrel racer, and like Ethan isn’t sure that she wants to be there anymore. She enjoyed it in the past, but now she is only doing it for her Dad.The story follows their developing relationship, both the ups and the downs; the highs and the lows of the rodeos circuit, the hard work, the stresses but also the incredible thrill when the hard work and commitment pay off.I couldn’t see how they were going to sort out their problems so that they could have a life together. So . . well worth a read to see what happens.I have read all the books in this series and hate finishing them; although I am always in a rush to read them, I always hate to see the last page coming up. I know that I will have to wait a while for my next “fix”. ????????????????This book is as good, if not better than some of the others . . . why don’t you read it yourself and see what you think!

Liz Isaacson is my favorite authorThis book is one of the best. I laughed and I cried. The story was about having a dream but was the dream more important than what God wanted and was it just a matter of God’s timing. I really liked the characters and their story. It was a story of God’s faithfulness and healing. The storyline was realistic and intriguing. It is amazing how misunderstanding and misconstrued events create unnecessary obstacles and wounds. The inclusion of contemporary events added depth and interest. The courage to face the truth and trust one another in Him brings healing… God is worthy of our trust because He is always faithful.

    LOVE.

Words can’t describe how much love I have for this book (or this series for that matter). There are so many emotions soaring around and the characters learn to find themselves and heal. Sometimes you just need a book that makes you feel good and reminds you that no matter how rough life gets it will get better. These books do that beautifully.I loved Pete and Chelsea and the way the two of them were together. I loved that the horses healed them both and they shared this passion. It was amazing to see the two of them heal together and work as one to help others heal as they did. We even saw Squire and Kelly from “Second Chance Ranch”. Who, by the way, I completely adore, but Pete and Chelsea gave them a run for their money. If you love cowboys (I mean, who doesn’t?!) this is a fabulous inspirational western romance. I definitely recommend these. Not to mention they’re written by one of my all time favorite authors. She just gets all the feels going no matter what book I’m reading!!QUOTES:”This hand tells me that I can come out better. Maybe not perfect. But good. Strong. Alive.””He’d called her sweetheart from the day they met. Then, it had been a name. Now, she felt the reverberations of emotion in the word. Now, the word sang through her soul, stitching together old hurts. Now, it was an endearment.”

    Intriguing, heartwarming, lovely!

Loved the book!! Could certainly understand the fears that plagued the two main characters. Very well written, and planned out. A little mystery, a sense of a serene relationship with God without being overdone, and a nice romance. Although, in real life the characters would probably have needed more time to sort through their fears, I can understand it needed to be dealt with quickly for the purpose of the story. Can’t wait to read the other books in the series!! Pete already has me intrigued!!

City girl; Ranch owner. Are they compatible?

Heidi and Frank…both looking for something; neither knowing if they can trust each other with their hearts. Frank is inheriting a large ranch and most of the women he has dated only want the riches and status that comes with the man. He is lonely and wants a wife, but wants one that will love him not just his money. Heidi has always dreamed of living in the big city and becoming a baker. She never dreamed she would want to become a country-girl and live away from all the hustle of the city. Because of a need for a job, Heidi agrees to come to the ranch to clean cabins for the summer. Frank prays she will stay and become his wife. This book weaves the conflicts of the characters beautifully and keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. Liz is great at writing a tale that has surprises and conflict resolution. I want to know what happens next! 🙂

Everyone Needs a “Second Chance Ranch”

Loved this book! I generally read a book over a two week period by choice and some due to time constraints. However with “Second Chance Ranch”, I really didn’t want to put it down. The story is not only heartwarming but one you can relate to for any age group. I never mind predictable, light reading, but don’t be misled, this story is not as predictable as you might guess. Keep reading; you will like the unexpected twists. It is always nice to finish a book wanting more and missing your new friends. I recommend this book!

Another great book! I so loved this story about the healing power of horses. Most of my life I’ve been around horses and know how soothing, relaxing, and healing they can be. So this story really touched by heart. I am enjoying this series as characters from previous and future books are included, so it’s like their story continues on. I appreciate how she doesn’t clutter up the stories with unnecessary details, the stories run smoothly.

I’m not much with words, but I did want to say that I really liked the book. Didn’t really care that some of the detail were incorrect, didn’t impact the story as most people like myself didn’t know them. 4.4 stars: Third Time’s the Charm by Liz Isaacson

Chelsea is struggling in the aftermath of her depressed fiance’s suicide, and reluctantly admits that Pete’s therapy horses (and Pete himself) are helping her heal.(Though reviews are inherently subjective, I prefer to provide some organization to my opinions through the use of a personal rubric. The following notes may contain spoilers.)Plot and Setting: 4.5 — Plot has unique elements and no major holes, but a few shaky bits. Setting is clear, believable, and consistent. I’m puzzled about why Pete has signs for Courage Reins up along the road when he apparently hasn’t actually shared his plans with Squire or Garth. And I could’ve used a bit more explanation about why after showing her he built a house for her and their future children, they then waited another 6 months to be engaged. I don’t necessarily disapprove of knowing each other longer first, but it seems a bit odd in this case.Characters: 5 — Relatable, realistic, interesting, dynamic characters. Even minor characters have depth. Both Chelsea and Pete have good and bad traits, but their actions and reactions all seem very consistent with their characters. I liked the honest glimpses of life with scars of all types–his physical scars and PTSD from the war and his injury, and her emotional scars from struggling to love and fix someone who was dangerously depressed.Writing and Mechanics: 4.5 — Few, if any, typos or word errors. Intelligent use of alternating POV. Generally skillful writing. More of that characteristic triple-repeating style, which worked better in some places than in others. I like it as an example of the author’s unique style, but when it is part of the narration from multiple characters’ POV, it seems a bit strange. Not everybody actually thinks that way. And other than that one thing, they do have unique ways of speaking and thinking.Redeeming Value: 4 — Incidental uplifting themes. Small mentions of God’s role in healing us, but mostly it’s about the horses. Sex, alcohol, drugs, violence, etc, are not glorified at all. Pete has a positive view of the Army, but we also see the negative aspects of war and injury. Again, very little actual listening to sermons.Personal Enjoyment: 4 — I liked it a lot. Highly enjoyable and very entertaining, with perhaps an issue or two that tempered my pleasure. I’d enjoy reading it again.

Another fine book by Liz Isaacson!

Ethan and Brynn give us a bird’s eye view into the world of barrel racing, bull riding, and team roping! I loved this look into the rodeo world despite the star-crossed lover’s hopes and dreams. Ethan has left the peace and comfort at Three Rivers though life is not what he thought it would be! His success is luring him to stay despite his attraction and feelings for Brynn. Brynn decides to leave the rodeo just as she falls for our hero and he is settling into the world of rodeo. How can they possibly overcome the life decisions in the way of their budding relationship?I love this series! I read several books early in the series; I can tell things have changed and new people have joined the ranch, but Eight Second Ride functions well as a stand-alone book. A romance in the Christian genre, this story is clean. It is not at all preachy, nor an advertisement for going to church. The Christianity is an integral part of a good story.I recommend this book! You will enjoy the bumpy path our hero and heroine share along the way!

    Horse lover

Three Rivers is a place of peace and healing. This poignant and profound story deals with PTSD, anorexia, anxiety, and depression as two broken people find their way together to healing and love. His scars are external while hers are internal. Pete is a giant of a man, a war hero bearing the scars of a survivor. The military destroyed his body. Rehabilitation is more than physical; it includes mental and emotional healing too. Chelsea Ackerman has fled Dallas, fled the devastation, her life, her friends and all of the painful memories. An educated, intelligent, senior executive, outwardly, she is an accomplished, polished woman but inside she is broken. Danny broke her heart, her spirit, and her joy. He was broken. In trying to help him, she lost herself. I loved the in depth information about rehabilitation therapy. Courage Reins is a place of miracles. The horses became pivotal characters in this story with their compassion and understanding. They love and accept with judgment. I delighted in Chelsea’s adventures in cooking. Her culinary disasters were a fun theme thread throughout the book. Beautiful elements of faith, hope and new beginnings fill this story. But I found the repetitive wording irritating, i.e. fake, fake, fake; at least six examples of this repetition. There is some awkward wording but this is an inspiring story and a wonderful continuation of the Three Rivers Ranch Series. I am looking forward to reading Fourth and Long.

A great addition to the Three Rivers Ranch Series

Another great addition to Liz Isaacson ‘s Three Rivers Ranch Series. This is the story of Ethan Greene, who we have known in previous stories from the series to be a little less than admirable but through a new relationship in Jesus has been trying to be a better man. It is also the story of the lovely barrel racer Brynn Bowman. Brynn has been enlisted to bring Ethan back into the rodeo circuit. Though they are drawn to each other, Brynn is wanting to leave the rodeo and because of pain in her past, isn’t looking to start anything with a cowboy. Can these two people who are carrying wounds from each of their pasts find a way toward understanding and trusting each other enough to place their hearts in each other’s hands in order to move toward a future? The Three Rivers Ranch Series is well written by Liz Isaacson. The ranch is for rehabbing wounded warriors but others for whom a relationship with the animal can be remarkable in its value for healing. Each and every story is well written and it’s very worth starting at the first book beginning to read all the way throughthe series for a richer more meaningful understanding of the characters. They do tend to show up in other stories. Not only that but they’re all good reading.

    Frank’s story

After reading the other books in the series, it was nice to learn how the family began. In subsequent stories, Frank is quiet and doesn’t say much during family gatherings or ranch meetings. This book explains why he wants a family atmosphere on his ranch, why he hired his son’s military brothers & why he wasn’t totally upset when he learned about the missing money in ‘Second Chance’.A good read, even though it ended a bit abruptly. Frank learns to trust & be thoughtful in his reactions.

This book brings you back to the reality of what some of the soldiers go through & how hard it is to rehab from things they went through serving our country. Helps us appreciate them more & have compassion for what they have suffered & not to judge when some have flashbacks, etc. They need our prayers while in & if they come home our prayers when they come back. Also the conflicts we ourselves have sometimes in difficulty to commit. Adding Liz to my authors to read list.

    A beautiful romance

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my voluntary and honest review. After having read most of the Three Rivers Ranch series, it was lovely reading The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch to see where it all began. Frank and Heidi both had dreams and ambitions, however unfortunately their choices for the future did not run in parallel lines, but on completely different paths. Sometimes, being a Christian makes it more difficult to make a decision and not easier, because in the midst of dealing with your own desires, one needs to also seek God’s perfect will for your life. Frank and Heidi were unable to avoid falling in love with each other, but at what sacrifice? There really was no easy way out.I thoroughly enjoyed this inspirational romance and had to smile at my memories of a time when we had long distance communication by telephone and handwritten letters! No instant communication by cell phone and e-mails! I thoroughly recommend this clean romance novel set in Three Rivers Ranch.

Story: 5 stars*I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review*I loved Frank and Heidi’s story! It takes place in the 1980’s and the occasional mention of Heidi’s clothes and the fact that everyone had to communicate with wall-phones and letters was a blast from the past! This is probably my favorite of the books. I’m not sure why, but it was kind of magical. Heidi brought the whole ranch together with her cooking and that made them a family. Her relationship with her sister is also a sweet touch to the book. I like that both Frank and Heidi rely on prayer to see them through hard times, but also answers as to the path they should take.Narration: 4.5Ms Doughty does an excellent job, as always. Tugs your heartstrings – hard

I have enjoyed the subject/theme of this book more than some others that Liz has written – I am a damaged veteran – not, so much physically, as much more physiologically and I can understand the character’s feelings in this book better. Especially Reese’s feelings, having felt them myself almost everyday for the past 5 decades.I was very happy for Reese that he got his happily-ever-after ending; that he was working out his/their problems and in solving those problems finally coming to terms and slowly healing himself. Liz is a wonderful writer, able to get you to a point with each of her story’s themes – where you better understand what each of her characters are working through to become whole again with their trusting in God to see them through.

    Liz Isaacson is amazing

Love this series. Brynn is a champion barrel racer. She wants to quit but doesn’t want to disappoint her family. Ethan quit the rodeo but has agreed to team with Tanner for a year of rodeo. Ethan has reinvented himself because he didn’t like the way he was living. He started going to church and found a peace that had eluded him before. Brynn had sworn off cowboys, then she met Ethan. Can they find happiness? Will they survive a year of rodeo? Recommend this series.

    Painful Romance

Loved this book from the beginning, hooked, new author to me. Sweet story of a social worker for Veteran’s, needing therapy as they both fight attraction. It was her job to help and he tried to refuse and they ended up falling in love, developed into a sweet romance with struggles they needed to deal with. Will look for other books from this author.

    Back home again

Christmas in Three Rivers by Liz Isaacson is a novella with 4 short stories in it. Each story has people in it from the other ones and yet is completely different. I love going back to Three Rivers Ranch, old friends and meeting new ones, each bringing with them their hurts that become healed. I love visiting Three Rivers Ranch because it brings joy, redemption and lots of family, through heartbreaking situations. We find lost love brought back together, meeting as grown-ups, second chances and running away from shame. Each story is unique and wants you to get more.

    Absolute winner!

Liz has done it again! Loved this addition to the Three Rivers series – a beautiful story of Ethan’s emotional and spiritual evolution and growing relationship with Brynn. Brynn’s story is just as compelling. They were both able to make the seemingly difficult choice to step away from fame to build a better life without any guarantee their relationship would continue. The HEA was sweet and satisfying.

    Awesome start to a series

I’ve been meaning to read this series for months and it just kept getting pushed off until I just decided to force it! I knew that there were two entry points to this series, but I’ve always been one for chronological order, so I knew I had to start with this one, even if it was written later. I was not disappointed. I loved the characters and the feel of being back just a tad in time. I’m super pumped to see the connections in the series. I started my journey with Isaacson with reading the Seven Sons series, which spins off from this one. I do wish I had read this series first, but if it hadn’t been for the other, I may never have discovered Isaacson. All this to say that I love this author and these Christian cowboys finding love and forever.

    LOVE OF THE RODEO

The love of the rodeo circuit, is clearly shown in this story. It is the sixth in the THREE RIVER RANCH series, and hopefully not the last. They can be read separately, but the whole series is great. We meet Brynn, a barrel racer, still doing it, for her dad. She wants to retire, dates now and then. Dated a few times with Tanner, and when he wants her to convince and old friend to join the rodeo. She comes wearing old clothes, so much for following orders. Sparks flies, between her and Ethan, and surprises all, when he agrees. To be part of the two man roping team for a year. The love of the rodeo, love between Brynn and Ethan, this is another winner for Liz Isaacson.Given ARC for my honest opinion, of which I have given

    Mrs. Isaacson does it again!

“The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch” is the eighth novel in this series and is a wonderful story of home time goes backward and we read about the love story that began everything! Frank and Heidi have a story that stands strong through the ages, and I am so happy that Ms. Isaacson decided to go back and provide us with this wonderful tale.I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!I would just like to say that there is over 10 books in this series, and I am not normally a fan of series that run this long (unless they really hold your attention); however, Mrs. Isaacson grabs your attention with the multiple characters throughout the many novels and manages to keep them all tied together without having to repeat herself a multitude of times throughout each story. Wonderful job, if you enjoy one, you will enjoy all of them.

Hang on for a wild ride!

The author caught so much of the reality of the rodeo circuit; the love of the animals, the excitement of the crowds and the rush of adrenaline as it pulses through your veins. Brynn rides in the barrel races under the guidance of her father. Her mother died when she was young so she is the only female in the home with her father and two brothers.Ethan left the rodeo circuit years ago at the height of his career and has no interest in going back until Brynn shows up and convinces him to work as a bull team with her friend, Tanner. The more Brynn and Ethan is together the more sparks fly. Brynn swore she would never get involved with another cowboy. Ethan was happy with his life and planned to go back to it as soon as the rodeo season was over. Life changes all their plans and decisions when they stop trying to make decisions on their own and let God truly be in control. The book has it all; humor, romance, action and a few tears along the way. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

Stories filled with hope, faith and love

This book contains 4 short stories that are all very good and each deserve their own review. The Ninth Inning: This is the story of Andrea and Lawrence. This story is sometimes humorous and sometimes its a little hard on the heart. It’s going to take humility to make this relationship work. I’ve been waiting for Andrea’s story, ever since I’ve started reading the Three River series.Ten Days in Town: This is Sandi’s and Tad’s story. Sandi is the owner of the cafe and Tad is her brother’s friend. They have ten days to decide if they can make a relationship work. This story will make you smile.Eleven Year Reunion: Grace comes to town to help Heidi finally open her bakery. She meets Jonathan, her high school sweetheart from eleven years ago. I like the play between Grace and Jonathan, although Jonathan gets stuck in his head. I kind of wished this story could have been longer. These two need more depth. The Twelfth Town: This is Taryn and Kenny’s story. Taryn is a newscaster and is hiding in Three Rivers to decide what she wants from her life. Enters Kenny, a friend and confidant to all females, except with Taryn the sparks fly. This relationship starts a a true friendship and fans itself to love. You know this is the foundation to most marriages, and probably why I liked this story best.

… up for a little Christmas reading and was so happy I did

Picked this book up for a little Christmas reading and was so happy I did. The book contains 4 short stories about women from town and the men from Three Rivers they fall in love with. Each story was sweet, charming and while a little predictable it was more about their pasts and their journey to happiness. I was looking for feel good stories and love at first sight is my favorite as that is what I have been living for 30+ years with my own sweetheart. Love the author, love the characters and now I need to read the rest of the series as I cannot wait to see how the others met and what their stories are. Happy reading.

    Favorite Places

It is very easy for me to like stories that center around ranches, farms, and horses. All the better if they are timed in the 19th century or early 20th century. A contemporary story has to prove itself more, even with the rural settings. This one presented itself nicely, holding my attention and sympathies quite readily, a great read on the kind of evenings when a person wants to relax with a book and not be stressed out by intensely serious plots and intrigue.

Nice compilation of short sweet stories

Always like this series. Characters are usually semi flawed but likable. Some similarities if you read too many in a row but each character has enough differences to bring a new aspect to the story even if the basic plot is similar in some.Like that each is a stand alone story but that they overlap in characters and locations. Just like they would in a small town. Author does a good job this way in letting you know what is going on with previous lead characters without continuing with a new book about those same characters. Very refreshing. She doesn’t write a short semi plotless book just to give you additional closure or what ever happened to …? she cleverly incorporates information into the current story in conversation or background events which make you feel more like you are catching up with family than reading a story.

Cute fun romance you won’t want to put down!

This book is billed as an inspirational romance and I’d have to say that that description is perfect. This book is a cute, clean, fun romance that you will love reading.Chelsea is hurting. Her fiance killed himself and there wasn’t a thing she could do to help him. She’s also hurting because he was verbally abusive and that’s something she’s going to have to work through. Either way, she is convinced that there is no way that she’s ever going to get engaged again. She decides to head back to her family’s ranch, Three Rivers Ranch, to see if she can heal from her scars. And that’s when she meets Pete. Pete is a war veteran with scars that are obvious. But he immediately recognizes Chelsea’s hidden scars and knows that he can help her. He runs a program, Courage Reins, where he uses horses to combat such scars for veterans, and really anyone that needs such help. Chelsea pretty much refuses to allow him to help her with the horse therapy, believing that she’s fine and doesn’t need any help. But I love the way that she jumps in to help him with the program. Doing everything from setting up a website to helping him get funding without complaint.I loved this book. It’s a cute, fun romance that you won’t want to put down.

SCARS FROM BEING A VETERAN….BROKEN ENGAGEMENTS

Chelsea has two broken engagements. While Peter has scars from being a veteran, that cover his body. Both need healing mentally and physically, not wanting people around. They have a strong desire to launch Courage Reins . Can they also get the courage to take the reins of their lives and try again. Good read for all to enjoy., given book by author for my honest opinion.

Second Chance Ranch has something for everyone who loves romance

Second Chance Ranch is a wonderful, inspirational western romance. There are modern day cowboys, an old high school romance, war vets struggling with PTSD, church picnics, bad guys in black hats, a small-town beauty shop for gossip, and even small children and puppies! The author brings all of this together masterfully to create a story that I could not put down. The characters were well-developed and there was a bit of unexpected suspense to top it all off. Well done!

I really didnt expect too much from the book since the price was so low. Wow was I wrong! This was beautifully written, & I fell in love with all the characters including the horses. The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch is a delightful read. I’ve read the first four books in the series and have enjoyed them all, but this one is my favorite. And now that it is out it should be the first one anyone reads that’s new to the series. I really liked the two main characters, Heidi and Frank. They had chemistry and it was easy to see they would be good for each other. Ultimately, this book is about choices we must make to have what we truly want, and sometimes those choices mean one person must sacrifice something dear. The story moved at a good pace and left me satisfied. Liz Isaacson did a great job. It’s a fun read with a good, clean plot.

Oh my,my,my! What an exciting story!!!!

The writing style of this author is spot on for romance readers. Characters are interesting and flawed while dealing with matters of the heart, faith, and just life in general. I’m always quickly drawn into the stories as there is always a new, captivating hook to every story. Makes me sometimes wonder….how does she do that with so many? What a treat to read without a page or book full of cursing so many feel they must include in novels today. Be prepared with an ice tea or coffee nearby as you will not wish to stop flipping the pages any time soon once you begin. Touching the heart while never being preachy the Three Rivers Series is one that makes me anxious for the next installment and the next. It doesn’t matter what series one reads, with the name Liz Isaccson on the cover you are assured it going to be an awesome read!!! Go for it!!! I so enjoyed this book

I so enjoyed this book, even though there were some sad scenes in it. We certainly need to be more thankful for our military people who are serving our country for OUR good. Do we always thank them? NO. Isn’t it just like us to assume something and let it affect our lives for years because we don’t discuss it. Kelly and Squire both tormented themselves because the could not talk about their past. But it worked out so beautifully in the end. A really, really good read. Just can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The Wonderful Stories of Liz Isaacson!!!

Eight Second Ride was just as satisfying and incredible as the other stories from the Three Rivers Ranch Series.Brynn and Ethan’s story was about how God given true love can triumph over love of fame and fortune. It may take time to learn this, but in the end, if you make the right choice as both Brynn and Ethan did the reward comes. Ethan’s meeting Brynn because of Tanner is how God can work and then God rewards them both with the life of adventure that true love can be….at Three Rivers Ranch.Thank you Liz for sharing your gift of story telling to enrich all our lives. I feel like copying the review I wrote for the first book in this series. This carried on the theme of helping heal mental and physical wounded service men and also autistic and other mental and emotional disorders through equestrian healing. The story grabs you at the first chapter as it brings to fruit the need for programs of help. The story also brings forward people who played major roles in book one. It is a great read and I look forward to book three. I have found another author that I greatly admire. Great job Liz because I recomend these books highly.

    Another winner for Liz Isaacson!

I love horses and ranches, as well as the whole concept of Equine Therapy. Ms Isaacson’s stories draw me into the characters, their pain and their joys. She includes details that add interest to the stories without being tedious or cumbersome, and develops sweet love stories based on respect and tenderness rather than graphic and gratuitous sex. I can’t get enough of Three Rivers Ranch, and enjoy seeing favorites from the previous stories play substantialroles in in subsequent stories. The Seventh Sargeant shows remarkable insight into some of the struggles faced by wounded veterans and the healing that can take place with the help and love of good friends.

    Taking a Chance on Love

This book was one of the most romantic I’ve read. The author was able to show what falling in love really is like. It wasn’t fantasized or sexual but two people who for the first time dealt with what failing in love felt like and how hard it is to express those feelings. Love is allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

Brave depiction of depression, healing, and love

After her fiance commits suicide, Chelsea Ackerman returns to the family ranch to heal her broken heart and to run the family’s homestead so her parents can retire. While there, she meets her brother’s old army buddy, First Lieutenant Pete Marshall, who came to the ranch to work when he was released from medical care after sustaining burns when his unit’s tank exploded while deployed overseas. But Pete wants more out of his life and finds the courage to start Courage Reins, an equine therapy program for veterans and others suffering from trauma and loss. Believing that the therapy program could benefit Chelsea as she struggles with her conflicting emotions over her fiance’s death, Pete recruits her to help him train the horses- all the while desiring to spend more time with her personally, as well. The two fall in love and want to have a future together, but their relationship stalls when Pete insists on building Courage Reins so he can provide for Chelsea.Third Time’s the Charm was delightful to read! As one who personally suffers from depression and anxiety, I felt Isaacson took a very brave approach with Chelsea’s conflicting emotions regarding the emotional trauma she experienced in her relationship with Danny. Depression is tough- not only for the one who suffers from it but also for family and friends connected with that person. Chelsea and Pete were a good match for each other. Again, I applaud Isaacson for being bold in Chelsea’s assessment of Pete’s injuries- it was unexpected and yet was a perfect example of how acceptance and love look in a relationship. Pete’s old fashioned desire to be the “provider” was so sweet, and the depth of love he felt for Chelsea came through the pages. I enjoyed the “I’m in love with your sister” talk between Pete and Squire in the garage, too! Heartwarming all around! This review contains my own thoughts and opinions. I have not been compensated in any way from the publisher or the author.

    Keep the faith

Liz Isaacson is without a doubt one of the best authors. This set of four stories takes place at Three River’s Ranch which must have special powers of some kind because lost souls show up there and God works through the other people on the ranch to help set the lost person in the right direction. Everything is not smooth sailing all the time but with their faith in God, difficult situations are handled. Each story tells a different character’s trials as they fall in love. Really the prequel of the Three Rivers Ranch series just like her sister’s story is the prequel of the Grape Seed Falls series so I highly recommend reading these first, this one before the other one (Choosing the Cowboy), before moving on to keep everything in a sequential time based order. LOVE how her different series (namely, her Three Rivers Ranch, Grape Seed Falls and Seven Sons Ranch collections) are inner woven together. Not too obvious but you can catch glimpses of the characters in some of the other series. Love all of her books I have read so far, but her Seven Sons Ranch series was BY FAR my favorite! Great reading. Life is all a out choices. Some are harder to make than others and with some you have to wait for an answer to a question. Sweet romance of how Heidi and Frank have to wade through options to come to the right conclusion.

    Heartwarming series

This series just gets better with each book. It’s often hardest to forgive ourselves than to forgive others. Growing closer to God and relying on his guidance is the best way.

Part of a series, but stands alone

Heidi Duffin is nearly finished with pastry school, and takes a summer job for Frank Ackerman, the new owner of Three Rivers Ranch since his father retired. At the end of the summer she leaves to finish school and starts a long distance relationship with Frank. Heidi must decide whether the bakery she wants is better than a life with Frank. The plot includes making life decisions and trusting in God.

    Clean romance with depth

I got hooked into this book and couldn’t put it down. The characters had their ups and downs, just like real life, which made them relatable. The story was sweet and exciting. The inner struggles of loss that were woven through this story pulled at my heart. This book was exciting, fun, and clean. Perfect combination. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

    Refreshing!

I have loved all the books written by Liz Isaacson. I enjoy the inspirational touch and it seems wonderful to have an enjoyable read without the explicit, torrid love scenes involved in so many. The stories are all well written and interesting. I have enjoyed the characters and like happy endings.

    Excellent story with realistic problems

If you like a clean, romance story that grabs you until you read from the beginning to the end, this is one of those books. Liz Isaacson has the skill to pose enough surprises with the characters until you reach the satisfying end. Characters from the other books in the series appear which brings some connections between the character’s relationships.

    Rancher Finds His Lady

She’s a 24-year-old student on her way to achieving a dream she’s had since she was 13 – owning a bakery. Heidi’s got two semesters left until she graduates as a full-fledged pastry chef. Focused on her dream, nothing can stand in her way – not even love. He’s a 30-year-old rancher looking for THE woman to make his house a home, something it hasn’t been since the death of his mother. Frank Ackerman has dated every woman available in his community and none of them make his heart skip. When one of his ranch hands invites him to the monthly town dance, he decides to go. As he stands on the sidelines avoiding all the women giving him hopeful glances, he notices a new face in the crowd. Standing next to his ranch hand, Chance, are two young women. While one is quite obviously Chance’s girl, the other appears to be older and unattached. His interest piqued, Frank pursues an introduction then spends the evening getting to know Heidi. As his heart skips in her presence, he begins to see hope on his horizon.Home for the summer, Heidi needs a job that pays actual money. Working for her dad for free isn’t going to pay her school bills. When Frank offers her a job cleaning cabins on his ranch, she is leery of taking it. After all, she just met the man. As another week slips by with no job on the radar, Heidi goes to another dance hoping to see Frank again. When he finally shows up and they hit it off like the last time, she asks if the job is still available. He jumps at the chance to have her close by, then, she tells him her conditions for coming. She will not be staying under any circumstances. She wants to finish school so she can buy her bakery. As Frank and Heidi spend the summer together working on his ranch, can they keep their hearts in check – even if those hearts are completely drawn to the other? Will Frank be able to step back to allow Heidi to go after her dream, even if that dream takes her away from him?Liz Isaacson – where have you been all my reading life? I loved this book!! I know it’s the 7th book in the Three Rivers Ranch series but, as the prequel, I’m kind of glad I read it first. I loved how Frank kept persevering even when Heidi wasn’t giving him a whole lot of hope. His honor, faithfulness and strong faith in God made him an outstanding male lead for this book. I also loved how both main characters were willing to listen for God’s voice leading them in their relationship. Christian romance readers will love this book. I couldn’t put it down!

    Frank and Heidi

Liz Isaacson is a great author who weaves a beautiful love story with beautiful settings. She is not afraid to tackle human emotions and you feel like you are right in the midst of them. It was refreshing to see the deep love Frank had for Heidi all while she was wrestling with her decisions. If you enjoy clean love stories, beautiful settings, and happy endings, you will enjoy this book.

The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch

The Three Rivers Ranch series has been a favorite of mine. This story was right on par with the others I have read. Frank and Heidi meet at a dance. While studying to be a pastry chef with one school year left to complete her education, Heidi dreams of owning her own bakery one day. Frank is the owner of the Three Rivers Ranch. He is ready to settle down but the women typically only see his money and ranch without seeing him. Heidi is a breath of fresh air. She is looking for a summer job and he hires her. Frank falls for Heidi and they become close. Will he be able to convince her to stay with him at the ranch?

How does love happen? It is a new adventure for everyone. This adventure had the joy of ranch life and the cautious first steps into love. With the support of family, friends, and God everything turns out as it should. This story had internal conflict, but not too much. A delightful read! I will look for more from this author.

I love her books. They are always such feel good readings. I love that she continues each book as if it were almost A Series as you would see on TV. I love it when they continue bringing characters from the previous book and inter twine together to make a captivating story.

    A Book I Enjoyed

Liz Isaacson did an excellent job of writing the beginning story of the series “Three Rivers Ranch,” after she wrote the series. I enjoyed going back to see how the whole ranch was set up in this beginning book “The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch.” Liz’s books are good reads. They always have a point of inspiration built into the story. This book, like all her other books, gets a true five star rating from me.

Something better? Something other than her lifelong dream

Can a woman really have it all–career, marriage and children? Or, must she give up something in exchange for something else? Something better? Something other than her lifelong dream? Those questions are at the crux of the plot of this story. This prequel sets the stage for the Three Rivers Ranch Romance Series. It’s an honest look at dreams, relationships, and faith. The struggles that Heidi and Frank face are real and don’t have easy answers. Isaacson is spot on in this tale about real life choices and the consequences of our decisions. While we can’t always have everything we want ASAP, trusting in God’s plan and His timing help guide our steps. To discover how this story ends, you’ll not only have to read this delightful novella, but the other Three Rivers Ranch Romance books. You’ll enjoy the journey!

She ends up working with Squire her best friends brother whose heart she broke unintentionally. Squire is honorably discharged from the Army after being severely injured in a bomb blast. There is immediate attraction but they need to work out trust issues from the past to move forward. A very sweet story with a good plot.

So sad this is the end of this series.

I love this series and am sad that this is the last book. Even though it was written last it is the beginning of the Three Rivers Ranch series. Heidi and Frank literally run into each other and sparks fly. There is a glitch. Heidi is in culinary school and her dream is to open her own shop. Frank is taking over his father’s ranch. These are christian based books so very clean and the characters seek God’s will, love this. I really don’t want to give any of the story away. If you have read any of the other books in this series you know how this one ends, but you get to see the journey. Highly recommend.

    Really enjoyed this one

I did truly enjoy this book. I usually read in stops and starts as life requires. However, I read this one straight through. The story was very good, so far as I was concerned. Small details don’t bother me, except when poor grammar and punctuation are concerned. I would recommend it to anyone who likes cowboy romance, or any kind of romance, but who prefers to avoid the explicit details of romance.

    Wonderful!

I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!”Second Chance Ranch” is a story of love, redemption, and second chances (obviously since it is found in the title). Squire and Kelly have a love story that is not typically for most romance authors, it is different without being too different. When you dive into this story you will meet two characters that could be your next door neighbors if you didn’t look hard enough.I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it’s like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.
